About

With a mastery of type, storytelling, and craft, Taylor has worked on an array of digital and analog projects. When she's not designing, she enjoys rock climbing, sipping the perfect cold brew and cuddling her extra floofy cat.

Hailing from the rainy Pacific Northwest, I am a graphic designer, letterpress printer, book artist, and the proprietor of Coxswain Press, a letterpress printing and book arts studio.

With a background in letterpress printing and handset type, I thrive on working within creative constraints to produce the best product possible. When hand setting type, the little details are everything, and my digital design is no different. They tell you “not to sweat the small stuff,” but that is where I believe design lives, where it comes to life.

Hand-Bound Artist Books

For the past six years, under my Coxswain Press imprint, I have been creating and producing hand-bound artist books. With a non traditional focus on structure, my artist books allow me to bend the typical book/reader interaction forcing perspective changes and allowing me to blend visual design with storytelling. Many of my artist books are held in special collections across the country.

"This is Pretty Much the story of Our Family," a hand bound artist book, merges text from my grandmothers journals with current scientific data about the brain to chronicle the physical and emotional effects of memory loss.

Meet Gertrude, the Golding Platen Press

Built in 1901, the Golding No. 8 printing press was created as a workhorse for production. Acquired in Spring of 2019 I have slowly been refurbishing and cleaning the press to get it back into production. It currently lives in the studio of friend and collaborator Gabby Cooksey.
